If you use GPS products (that aren’t your phone), you know how expensive and/or annoying updating maps can be. I’m surprised the likes of Garmin doesn’t just give you the hardware for free and charge you for the maps. That’s basically what they do if you don’t want to resell your old tech and get new stuff. If you’re like me, you don’t want to pay money just to keep you stuff relevant. Enter GPSFileDepot. Leave it to the internet… and outdoors folks… to stick it to the man.
I know what you’re thinking – no change they work. Well, I’m happy to report the Northwest Topos from Switchbacks.com loaded and works on our old Garmin. “Northwest Topos is a mapset containing contours, hydrology, roads, trails, points of interest and more for the State of Washington and adjoining regions. It is designed for upload to any map-enabled Garmin GPS receiver.” It also, conveniently, meets our needs for both outdoor life and emergency preparedness. Yeehaw.
