2013 was so much better than 2012. There were some great things about 2012, but 2013 was about settling into our new life and getting on with things. I think we’re about ready to put down some roots in the city and I look forward to what 2014 holds. First, let’s review 2013.
- We celebrated 10 years of marriage.
- Melissa finished grad school and returned to Seattle for good in May. I’m very proud of her… I never want to do anything like that again.
- I was made manager at work and got promoted. Yee. Haw. My job is stressful, but I love it.
- Travel – Charleston (visit my dad), Virginia & New Jersey (Melissa’s graduation and visit family), Portland twice (visit with friends and buy a car), San Diego (family vacation), Bellingham (weekend trip and 50 mile bike ride), Atlantic City (bachelor party), Quincy (anniversary celebration), and Las Vegas (wedding). I still managed three trips to the east coast, which is a lot when you consider that’s one and a half days on a plane. I was right when I said this year would be similar to last year, but it doesn’t look like a major trip is gonna happen early this year. I think we’re pretty dead set on backpacking Vietnam and Cambodia in 2015; I think we’re gonna try and see the Cowboys and visit friends in London in the meantime.
- Life List – Four things this year: Own a 911 of Indeterminate Age, Meet an Idol, Lose 50 pounds, and Ride in an Upside Down Plane. Finally losing 50 pounds is the one I’m most proud of, but meeting Les Stroud was pretty freaking amazing. I still owe a post about the plane experience; I’m waiting to get the in-flight video converted first.
- CrossFit – I celebrated one year and 100 WODs at CFIB. I missed two months to injury and another month or two to traveling (etc.), however I’m still active. The holidays haven’t been so great; I’m looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.
- We sold all three vehicles we moved to Seattle with (I also owe a post about selling the motorcycle) and replaced them with a Mini Clubman and 37 year old 911.
- 13 blog posts – I didn’t post in April or September, which makes 2013 the first time I missed a month. Facebook is stealing some of this blog’s thunder and it’s rare I feel like sitting down and cranking out a lengthy post. I spend far more time in Word than Excel at work these days, so don’t worry about me getting rusty.
- 78 Yelp reviews – Yelp had a “competition” to write 100 reviews in 2013. I clearly blew it. I have 82 places bookmarked to review. I wonder if I’ll ever do them all.
