I rarely write and I can’t remember the last time I wrote to recommend a product, but here I am doing just that. I purchased the ReVIVE Solar ReStore XL about a six weeks ago and it’s been one of the smartest purchases I’ve made in a long time. Here’s a couple ways it’s come in really handy during that time.
- Traveling all day and don’t feel like fighting for an outlet in the airport? You’re covered.
- Playing a processor intensive game on that six hour flight across the country? You’re covered.
- Spending a ridiculously long day as a tourist at home or abroad? You’re covered.
- On a road trip and your cigarette lighter is occupied by GPS? You’re covered.
- Keeping your Mom company during radiation treatment and the hotel she’s not permitted to leave loses power? You’re covered. Ironically, this situation also proved the value in the LED light feature… which I thought was completely unnecessary until then.
For reference, the version linked above (4,000 mAh) is about enough for 2.5 cell phone charges or 75% of a tablet charge without any additional input. You can top it off via a wall charger or supposedly it will fully recharge in about 13 hours via sunlight. Given how much charge it holds, I can’t say I’d use the solar feature much, but it’s a nice backup if you’re in the outdoors or there’s an extended power outage (which seems to happen a lot on the east coast these days).
If I had my choice, we’d have devices that could last for 16 hours of heavy usage. Actually, it really annoys me that something like this even exists. The thought of carrying around a second device just to charge your first device in every day life is pretty obnoxious and I wouldn’t recommend it. Carry a spare battery (if you have the option… ha!) or just get a device that doesn’t suck life away. That said, it’s a lifesaver during those special occasions until battery/charging technology can catch up with the progress made elsewhere.
