Movie: Bourne Ultimatum

I wasn't that crazy about the first two so I'd resigned myself to seeing this one as a rental. After talking with a bunch of people who'd seen it, I bought into the hype and went to see the Bourne Ultimatum last weekend. I have to say that it was better than I expected but I still wouldn't classify it as a must see. Those that like the series will probably like it a lot, there's just something about Matt Damon that I don't buy in that role.

The action was pretty intense and there's a really good fight scene in Moroco that does well in portraying the "fight for your life" aspect. It reminded me of that scene in Saving Private Ryan where the German solider stabs the American solider in the heart after them rolling around in a building. The rest of the action is definitely entertaining, especially if you're into one guy kicking everyone's ass without much effort.

The plot was weak, at best, but that's not really why people see these movies. It loosely ties the action together and provides some nuggets about Bourne's past but I can't say I was really curious about that after the second movie. I also found myself not caring to hear about personal struggles or to have them waste my time with talking. There's also a really annoying shake to the camera at all times. Two people could be sitting in a hotel room having a conversation and despite it being an intimate conversaion framed on their faces the camera is still shaking like hell. It doesn't increase the intensity so hold the damn camera still will you!?
